Open Up and Say “Ahhh” to Newborn Sessions that Beat the Dentist Every Time | Dallas Newborn Photographer

Having a baby is HARD. From being pregnant for nearly 10 months, recovering from labor, getting into the swing of breastfeeding, juggling all of your new baby’s doctor’s appointments, dealing with delivery delays on your nursery furniture – I know you’ve got a lot of challenges in these early days with a newborn. That is why I feel SO strongly that newborn photography doesn’t have to be one of them.

In all my years of photographing newborns and with my own experiences bringing home baby (times three!), I’ve heard the dread people can have about their newborn sessions. I’m talking dread like people dread going to the dentist. I nip those worries in the bud REAL quick, because lifestyle newborn sessions with me, in the comfort of your own home, are nothing to fear. On the contrary, they are comfortable, they are easy and – believe it or not – FUN. Even your partner will think so.

Don’t believe me? Let’s count the ways:

1.Your furniture.

Comfy, worn in, and where you hang every day. And I know that’s better than the dentist’s chair.

2. Shoes are optional.

Heck, shirts are optional, too, for your babies and little boys with a, shall we say, independent streak 😉

3.Coffee and snacks.

Everything you need to re-energize yourself (or bribe your toddler) is in your very own kitchen, just a few steps away.

4.Your music.

No, not the muzak that you hear in the elevator or dentist’s chair. Whatever you love. Whatever makes you happy. Whatever makes you dance. Your soundtrack, your choice.

5.No drilling.

Okay, I hope this one is obvious, but it encourages me to assure you that even if you or someone in your home LOATHES getting their picture taken, I promise I’ll get you to relax. I’ll chat with you about all the things, from poopy diapers to football to TV shows you’re bingeing during late night feedings. It’s all fair game so long as I know it helps you relax.

6.Pets allowed!

Unless you have a pet that’s anxious or makes YOU anxious, pets are allowed and encouraged. Think of this as having your very own therapy pet, but better because it’s YOURS.

7.No traffic, no parking.

I’m coming to you. Your car stays parked at home. Let me worry about parallel parking and rush hour.

8.No x-rays.

Yes, we’re taking lots of pictures, but I promise that none of them include the terrible pokey thing the dentist jams in your mouth. No radiation here either. Just giggles and snuggles and smiles.

9.No shots!

No needles or shots at these newborn sessions. But, if you do need a little extra something to relax for your session, I *have* had plenty a mimosa at my newborn sessions over the years. Cheers to that!
