Twin Newborn Photography | Fort Worth, Texas Newborn Photographer

You are having TWINS. Oh my gosh, congratulations! I am sure your head is just spinning with excitement, and let’s be honest, a little overwhelming too. Because holy cow, TWO babies!

One of the things that you are probably thinking about is how to find a newborn photographer who is comfortable with and has experience photographing twins.

As a Fort Worth photographer with loads of experience photographing twins (and triplets!) I thought it would be helpful to share 5 things to look for when choosing your photographer.

1.How much experience with both newborns and multiples does the photographer have?

Photographing twins is a lot different than photographing one baby. You want to make sure you find someone who can handle the extra pressure and who has experience with multiples.

The last thing you want to do is hire a newborn photographer who shows up to your session looking like a dear-in-headlights and doesn’t know what to do with twins. Or gets frazzled easily when one is awake and one is asleep. Experience with multiples makes a huge difference.

2. Do you like the photographers’ aesthetic?

When you look through a photographer’s website, social media presence, and portfolio, do you like what you see? Do you like their editing, the way they use light and locations, and the way that they capture connections?

I know this question might seem like a no-brainer but you would be shocked to know that a lot of people skip this step. Make sure your style and their style matches because if it doesn’t, you definitely won’t be happy with the end result.

3. Do you like the way they photograph twins?

Again, this might seem like a truly captain-obvious question but when you look specifically at the way the photographer poses twins, do you like what you see? Just like aesthetics, different photographers capture multiples in very different ways.

Are you more of a laid-back and lifestyle photography type? Or a superposed and propped type? Either way is good, you just need to know what your vibe is so that you can hire someone who provides exactly what you are dreaming of!

4. Do you like the photographers’ personality?

This one takes a little bit of homework and effort on your part. But I encourage you not to skip this step. If you are a phone call type person, get on the phone with a potential photographer. If you are phone call averse, then at least follow them on social media for a bit. Watch them on Instagram stories, read their captions, read their blog, and get a feel for their personality.

A twin newborn session is a very intimate experience that will last at least an hour. You want to make sure that you are going to jive with the photographer you choose. And if you don’t, no big deal, keep looking until you find someone that you genuinely love and look forward to hanging out with. I promise the experience will be much better for you.

5. Does this photographer prioritize safety?

This is such an important question to follow up on when hiring your twins newborn photographer. You want your babies to be safe, of course you do, so please make sure you hire someone who knows how to safely handle babies.

Some of this safety will come with newborn experience- how many sessions have they photographed? Some of it will come from them being a mom and having raised their own newborns. Whatever metric you use to measure safety, make sure you feel comfortable with your twins being in good hands. Literally.
