Firstborn | Fort Worth First 48 and Lifestyle Newborn Photographer

Just like the last blog, this is another family that asked me to photograph their new baby in the hospital and also at home. I LOVE getting to do both of these sessions. Every time I do this for a family, they are always so surprised by how quickly a newborn changes. Before booking I am often asked if having both sessions done is too much, or overkill. “Won’t the baby be the same just in a different space?” I respond by assuring them that the sessions are both valuable and they will not regret doing both. And every single time, when I arrive at their home for the lifestyle session, the parents tell me how much baby has changed and how glad they are to have had both sessions.

A first 48 session is so unique and a time that you will always look back on as magical and sacred. With a lifestyle newborn session, the baby is a bit older and has begun to fill into themselves. The parents are starting to get into a routine and have gained some confidence. The two sessions are truly unique and such a nice compliment to one another.

For this family, I was capturing their first baby. Which is always SO special and such an honor. When I arrived at the hospital for their first 48 session, their daughter was only a few hours old. She had been born in the early morning hours and I arrived around lunch time. Y’all, mom looked AMAZING. I was floored. I did NOT look like that within hours of having any of my babies. Not. Even. Close.

When I arrived at their home a few weeks later, as I said before, baby had changed. Not only was I there to capture her changing, I was there to capture them as a family in the space that is most comfortable to them. There is nothing like being at home with your first born. I have such fond memories of those early days with my oldest. I had slowed down for the pace of my working career. I was getting into a parenting rhythm. I remember those lazy days of exhaustion and laundry and naps and figuring out nursing. I will never forget those moments in our first home.
