Fort Worth Family Photography | 4 Summertime Photo Session Options | Sabrina Gebhardt

As far as seasons go, fall usually wins as favorite season for Fort Worth family photography. But sweet summertime is full of fun and memory making, and there are so many types of sessions that actually work best this season. Plus the fact that having your annual family photos taken in the summer takes the pressure off of your fall to-do list. We all know fall is insane so why not check one thing off early and have your family photos taken early this year? Trust me, your future self with thank you for planning ahead.

Here are a few of my favorite summertime session ideas and, spoiler alert: They’re all WAY cooler than you think.

#1. At-home photo sessions

If you’ve followed me for any length of time, you know that in-home sessions are my thing. I’d argue that they’re even more my “thing” in the summertime. A/C and easy access to cold beverages…need I say more?!

I have been singing the praises of in-home photography sessions for years and years and trust me, they really are the best location. Your families story unfolds at home and that makes it the most authentic place for your next photo session.

#2. Studio photo sessions

If you’re not feeling wild about shooting at home, or prefer the cleaner, simpler backdrop of a studio, you’re in luck because I offer studio sessions, too. The space is already clean, fully air conditioned and you walk in and out with minimal effort.

I have multiple natural light studio locations that I like to shoot in but my two favorites are definitely my own space in the Stockyards area of town and also The Lumen Room.

#3 Poolside photo sessions

Do you have a pool? Or have access to a pool? If so, this is an amazing setting for a portrait session. It’s picturesque, it’s fun and a great way to beat the heat. Also, I’m betting that your pool is a major part of your family’s story and a poolside session is a great way to document all the memories you make there.

You might be wondering about the logistics of a pool session so let me stop you right there… Yes, I will get in with you. And yes, I have waterproof camera gear:)

#4 Travel photo sessions

Summertime brings travel and some of your family’s happiest memories. If you just love the idea of a photographer capturing your family on a special trip, I do too. This is exactly why I offer travel sessions where, you guessed it, I’ll travel with your family and photograph you all in the destination of your choice. These special sessions are only offered in the summer months.

I may be a Fort Worth family photographer, but over the years I have traveled with clients to some pretty incredible locations including: 30A, Charleston, Jackson Hole, New York City, Carmel, Corpus Christi, Austin, Monterrey, Rosemary Beach, Seattle, Houston, Denver, Boulder, Crested Butte and Frisco, Colorado. (But don’t stop there, I am open to go literally anywhere so shoot me an email and let’s brainstorm your families travel session!)
