Welcome to the shoot it straight podcast. I’m your host, Sabrina Gephardt. Here I will share an honest take on what it’s like to be a female creative entrepreneur. while balancing business, motherhood and life, myself, along with my guests will get vulnerable through honest conversations and relatable stories because we’re willing to go there. If you’re trying to find balance in this exciting place you’re in, yet willing to talk about the hard stuff to to shoot it straight podcast is here to share practical and tangible takeaways to help you shoot it straight.

Welcome back to the shoot straight podcast, my friends, I’m going to be honest, today’s episode is going to be pretty short and sweet. But that doesn’t mean it’s not important. I want to talk about this general idea that I have in the way that I approach coaching. It’s the same thought I had when I created this podcast. And it’s the premise behind all of my programs. The thought is this personal development and business development go hand in hand, I truly believe that you cannot grow your business without bettering yourself. Full stop. I’ve seen this in my own life, and also in the lives of all of my students, your business will only go so far if you aren’t healthy.

And I mean that both physically and mentally. If you’re struggling with depression, anxiety, relationships, mindset issues, poor physical health, lack of routines and self care, your business will only do so well. This might be hard to hear. But trust me when I say this, if you are not working on your own personal development, to continue to better yourself, your business will hit a plateau. And unfortunately, it might be sooner than later. On the flip side, what I see time and time again is that when you’re willing to do the work, personally, physically, mentally, when you’re willing to dig in, and truly heal yourself and get into your best optimal, like mental and physical health, business becomes almost easy. It’s literally the best hack I can tell you for business success. The funny thing is that so many women that I chat with online, are not willing to go there.

They want to attend the conferences, or purchase the courses or join the programs. But they just keep their eyes focused on the business strategies and the creative development. These women have grand visions for their business and their craft. And yet, they immediately put their head in the sand when it comes to anything personal development. No, they don’t want to seek out a therapist. No, they don’t want a one to one coach to push them. No, they don’t want to commit to moving their body regularly know, they don’t want to talk to a doctor about antidepressants, the list goes on and on and on. And yet when you look at their business from the outside, as a coach looking in, it’s really easy for me to see that they are simply treading water, all of the investing that they’re making and their business development and creative growth. It isn’t propelling them forward like they would hope. And here’s what happens. They don’t see the quote unquote, return on investment that they think they should have.

And they become frustrated. And then what happens like clockwork, these women begin to feel impostor syndrome, they begin to feel like they aren’t good enough, they begin to feel like they just aren’t cut out to be a great photographer or fill in the blank on your profession. And it breaks my heart because it’s not true. Here is the truth. If you are struggling personally, whether with mental health, physical health, relationships, or anything else, when you are struggling personally, you literally cannot just shut that part of your life off and focus on growing a killer business, your struggles, your personal, mental, physical struggles. They act as kind of like a ball and chain hooked around your ankle. It’s dragging you under. You’re working your ass off just to try and stay afloat. Do you see what I mean? Do you see how hard things are when you intentionally bury and ignore your personal needs. You cannot go to the business things, take the courses, work with the mentors, do all these things and expect to see your business to take off because this weight, this personal struggle that you have is literally dragging you under. On the other hand, when you commit to personal development right alongside business growth, that load that you’re

are carrying, it gets lighter and lighter. This allows you to go farther and to do more with your business. It becomes the most epic win win situation, you feel better, and you see business success, you’re healthier, and you’re finally creating the art you’ve always wanted. You feel lighter, and your business doesn’t feel as much of a struggle as it had in the past. You see what I mean? On the day that I’m recording this episode, I am just getting home from my most recent root rise mastermind retreat in Destin, Florida. If you’ve never heard anything about my retreats before, let me just tell you, they are the most incredible weekend’s imagine a girl’s weekend with your business besties where you photograph sessions, eat delicious food, talk about business, have intimate community time you laugh a ton, and so much more. They are literally the best. While these retreats.

Some of my regulars who have come to multiple retreats, they like to joke that it isn’t a retreat without tears. You might hear this and immediately think yeah, no, I don’t want any part of that. Why would I want to go to a weekend? Retreat and cry? No thanks. I want no part of that situation. And that’s fine. But hear me out. From the very first week of this program. When I start having one to one conversations with these women in boxer. We get to the heart of things right off the bat. Yes, this is a business development program. But I also walk women through deep personal struggles. We talk marriage issues, health crisis, anxiety, depression, overwhelm parenting struggles, physical health problems, and so much more. These women get vulnerable with me. And that’s exactly how I want it. No, I am not a licensed therapist, counselor, or doctor and I will never claim to be. But I’m a sounding board for these women.

No matter what they’re going through. I can share from my own personal experiences, I can share what I’ve learned through coaching lots and lots of women, I can share what I’ve learned from reading the reading books, listening to podcasts, and from learning from my own coaches. The reason I ask these women to be so vulnerable with me in the process is because I can’t help their business grow. If they aren’t fully honest with me. If I don’t have a full picture of what’s going on in their lives, I don’t know how to help them. If someone is struggling with anxiety, I need to know so that I can coach them appropriately. If someone has health issues, I need to know so that I can coach them appropriately. If someone is in an unsupportive or unhealthy marriage, I need to know that too, so that I can coach them appropriately. And here’s the beautiful thing about how I coach these women. I have created a process and a space to help women rise, not just growing their business but bettering their lives. And honestly, it is so magical. That’s why there’s always tears at my retreats. We share the surface stuff, but my girls know that we are going deeper than that, too. I don’t just want to talk about how to improve their work. I want to talk about what’s holding them back.

I don’t just want to give them tips to book more sessions. I want to talk about why they’re afraid of making the big change they’ve been mulling over, I don’t just want to talk about how to simplify their to do lists. I want to talk about why they constantly struggle with overwhelm. I don’t want to just give them prices to use. I want to talk about why they struggle with charging more than their competition. I want to get to the heart of the issue because when we can get to the heart of the issue, you can heal, you can move on, you can stop this battle that has just been going on and on and over and over. You can finally move past these struggles. When you better yourself, your business gets better too. That is the magic of this program. So if this episode is hitting you in the gut if you’re hearing this and realizing that you have some work to do personally, but you don’t know where to begin, I would love to invite you to consider the route to rise mastermind.
