Carmel California Travel Family Photographer

Early last year, this family reached out to me and explained that Carmel, California was a super special place to them and they asked if I would be willing to travel there to photograph them while they were on vacation. Y’all, it was a super easy yes. Like one of those times when I literally didn’t even have to think twice (or confirm with my husband).

I had the privilege of visiting Carmel by the Sea for the first time in 2017. Another precious family asked me to capture them there. Arriving in Carmel for the first time was like arriving into a fairy tale. It is hands down, one of the most adorable places I have ever been. (Side note: If you have never been to Carmel, please add it to your bucket list now!) I kept having to pinch myself that I would be so lucky to travel to Carmel for MY JOB. Sigh. So, when I was presented with the opportunity to go back it was a super easy YES.

The best part? Upon talking with Mom about her vision for the images, we decided to split their time into two mini sessions so that we could capture images in town and also at the beach. If you have been to the California coast, then you know the weather is constantly changing. It might be cool and foggy in the morning and then bright and sunny in the afternoon and then raining that evening. It is wild. That being said, while we were in Carmel, Mom and I texted constantly about the weather and when our best opportunities to shoot would be. They were SO flexible the entire time and made it so easy.

Our patience totally paid off in the end. I mean, would you just look at those dreamy sunset pictures. Goodness gracious, there is no sunset on earth like a California beach sunset. Swoon.

Does your family have somewhere special that you like to travel often? If you have never hired a photographer to capture you in your special place, I cannot recommend it enough. There is something so super special about having professional pictures taken to document a meaningful place. I would love to chat with you about my travel sessions and what I offer.
