I am going to make a bold statement, you should ALWAYS have your newborn photo session at home. Yep, I said always. Newborn photography at home is the most pure and beautiful way to capture your new baby.
After photographing more than 800 newborns over the last 14 years, I can tell you with absolute certainty that there is no more special place than at home.
Newborn photography is personal. And the MOST personal space to have that session is at home.
Let me give you just a few reasons why a newborn photo session at home is the best possible gift you can give yourself…

The nursery
You worked hard on this space so let’s show that thing off!

The diapers
No matter how many diapers you throw in that diaper bag, you are going to need more. Plain and simple. Newborns are messy
3. Not having to drive anywhere
Leaving the house with a newborn is the equivalent to climbing a mountain. If you don’t have to leave, don’t. I will come to you and make things easy peasy.
4. The extra cup of coffee
Sleeping, what is sleeping? Yep, that is exactly what life with a newborn is like so if you think that coffee will be part of your survival skills postpartum, then pour that extra cup. Because you can. Because we will be in your house and you can even make another entire pot of coffee if you want!
5. The backup wardrobe
Remember when I mentioned that newborns are messy? Yea, sometimes they share that mess with others. And if you are at home, it is no problem! You can just cruise on over to your closet and find another option.
6. The intimacy
Not that kind of intimacy:)
Stick with me for a second… Having a brand new baby at home is a very intimate experience. Especially if this is your first child. You might not be super confident in your parenting skills yet. You are probably not feeling your best physically either. And if you are nursing, well the intimacy factor should be fairly obvious. This is one of the best reasons to have your newborn session at home.
Home is comfortable and easy. Home is where you and your spouse let their guard down. Home is the best place to relax and be the real you during your newborn session. Just by the simple act of being in your home, your newborn session will feel much more authentic.
