Why It’s Important to Choose an Experienced Photographer

There’s no shortage of talented photographers today, but choosing a photographer that’s right for you is more about creating beautiful images. Running a successful photography business requires so much more knowledge and care beyond delivering galleries, and regardless of what type of photographer you are looking for, there’s one thing that everyone should consider when hiring a photographer: experience.

Let’s talk about why it’s so important to choose an experienced photographer with your investment!

Working With Clients of All Ages

If you’ve ever experienced the unexpected with your family before or during a photography session (I’m raising my hand, too!), this tip is for you: choosing an experienced photographer – one who won’t feel frazzled by crying babies, rambunctious puppies, or less-than-enthusiastic husbands – matters.

In my more than 13 years of experience photographing families, I’ve literally seen everything from wild toddler antics and muddy paw prints to little hands clutching favorite toys (sharks! lovies! dinosaurs!). When I say I won’t be surprised one bit by whatever serving your family entails, I mean it!

Investing In My Work and My Client Experience

Experienced photographers know that learning never stops in our industry, and that is why I’m committed to investing in my education, both as a photographer and as a coach.

Every investment I make – whether it’s a course, a mastermind or coaching program, a conference, or a workshop – allows me to feel creatively recharged and equipped with new ways to serve my clients even better.

Speaking of serving my clients well, I’ve had years of experience to cultivate and hone a client experience that’s memorable and filled with ease. Whether I’m capturing a new baby, a child’s milestone, or a growing family, I know what it takes to serve my clients well in all seasons of their lives.

Creating Beautiful and Consistent Images

When new photographers are first starting out, they’re on a fact-finding mission of sorts as they explore everything that a career in photography has to offer. What types of clients do I enjoy photographing? What’s my preferred editing style? Do I like shooting indoors, outdoors, or both? Would I rather rely on natural light, or am I passionate about off-camera flash photography?

When you choose to work with an experienced photographer, you’re able to see consistency in their body of work and truly make a hiring decision that aligns with your needs and your style preferences. Over time, I’ve developed confidence in my ability to produce images that align with the moments I’m known for capturing and the editing style that my clients love, and that matters to my clients.
